IF you can’t make the designated time, due to schedule conflicts please come to closest time you can. Currently, there are not enough SR players to require a player evaluation.

DEFINITIONS

LEAGUE AGE is your player’s age as of AUGUST 31, 2025—please keep that in mind when determining your player’s slot in the evaluation schedule.

PLAYER EVALUATION is required for kid pitch division players to participate in post season tournaments unless the player is a returning 2024 Spring property kid pitch division player returning to their same team for 2024 (see property player below).

We do not have “tryouts”—every player will be placed/drafted on a Spring 2024 team at Capitol Little League.  The evaluation is to determine their readiness to play at the division they requested.  

Players will be asked to catch, throw, run, hit and if interested in pitching will be asked to pitch.  

Evaluation is done in small groups (hopefully) and takes about ½-45 minutes.

Players should bring a glove and bat/helmet IF they have them—if not we will have them available.

Players should wear comfortable clothing—baseball uniform not required.

NO cleats allowed in gym—wear tennis shoes please.

NOTE:  League age 7 players are NOT permitted to play in post season tournaments but may, after player evaluation, play in regular season.

FREE AGENT (REQUIRE a pre-season player evaluation) is any KID PITCH player:

·        NEW to Capitol Little for Spring 2025

·        Asking for a release from their Spring 2024 team

·        Who played ONLY Fall 2024 season at Capitol.

·        Who skipped a season and didn’t play Spring 2024 at Capitol.

·        Who did not move up to the same division as their Spring 2024 team.

o   Example: Your player was on 2024 Spring Minor Team Brown and YOUR PLAYER STAYS IN MINOR, Team Brown moves to Majors—YOUR player is a FREE AGENT.

PROPERTY PLAYER (these players do NOT need a pre-season player evaluation) is any player:

·        Returning to their SAME Spring 2024 kid pitch team regardless of division as long as BOTH the team and the player are in the SAME 2025 kid pitch division.

Examples:

o   Your player was on 2024 Spring Minor Team Brown AND BOTH your player and the team stay in Minors-your player is a property player for Team Brown for Spring 2025.

o   Your player was on 2024 Spring Minor Team Brown AND BOTH your player and team move up to Majors for Spring 2025—your player is a property player for Team Brown Majors for Spring 2025.

AA Machine Pitch moving to Kid Pitch Minors (REQUIRE a Player Evaluation)

2024 Spring AA Machine Pitch players moving to 2025 Kid Pitch Minors must have a player evaluation to be eligible for post season tournaments regardless of whether they are property players or not.

·        2024 Spring AA Machine Pitch players moving to 2025 Kid Pitch Minor team have property rights to the SAME team IF the team is moving to Kid Pitch Division as well.

·        2024 Spring AA Machine Pitch players moving to 2025 Kid Pitch Minor WITHOUT their 2024 team are FREE AGENTS.
